Nigeria's rig count for the month of September remained unchanged as it stood at 33, the same figure recorded in August, data from the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, shows.

This is coming at a time the 14- member OPEC recorded minus five in its September rig count, as it had 558 as against 563 recorded in August, while the world rig count showed minus 19 figure, as 2,341, was recorded against 2,360 seen the previous month of August.
Eight of the OPEC members significantly had their figures unchanged, four had minus in their figures, while two had a slight increase in their rig count within the period under review.
Among the countries that had unchanged rig count are Algeria, Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Iran, Kuwait and Qatar, which had 49, 4, 1, 3, 61, 50 and 9, respectively. Leading the group of countries that recorded minus was Saudi Arabia, which had minus three, having recorded 149 in September as against 152 recorded the previous month.
Following closing were Ecuador and Venezuela, which recorded minus two each. While Ecuador had eight in September as against 10 in August, Venezuela had 67 as against 69 recorded previously.
The United Arab Emirates had minus one, as it recorded 56, against 57 recorded previously. Iraq led the group of gainers. It eight recorded the previous month. had plus two, having recorded 59 as against 57 recorded in August, while Libya has plus one, having recorded nine in September as against eight recorded the previous month. Countries that fall within the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, OECD had a total of minus nine, having recorded 1,396 as against 1,405.
Canada had minus 18 in its rig count, as it recorded 202 in September, against 220 recorded in August.
The United States had a slight increase of three, having recorded 1,053 as against 1,050 recorded previously.
Its South American neighbour, Mexico, achieved a plus four rig count, as it recorded 33 against 29 within the period under review. NonOPEC rig count stood at minus 14, having recorded 1,783 as against 1,797 previously recorded.
