Firm opens new solar filling station in Zaria

Total Nigeria PIc, has opened a new solar filling station in Zaria, Kaduna State, bringing the total number of its solar service stations across the country to 30.

Speaking at the event, Managing Director of Total Nigeria Plc, Imrane Barry, said: "This project is in line with the Total group's ambition to become the responsible energy major and with its commitment to develop solar energy. It reduces our C02 emissions while decreasing our electricity bill each year.

"In September 2018, Total Nigeria Plc commissioned the 30th solar service station on its network, allowing its current installed solar capacity to generate enough energy to power the equivalent of 460 average. Nigerian households according to International Energy Agency database.

"Since the commissioning of Onigbagbo service station in 2013, the first solar service station ever installed in. Nigeria, these projects has allowed savings of 340,000 liters of diesel, and have already offset approximately 900 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

"Solar installations designed and managed by Total Nigeria Plc, the Nigerian downstream affiliate of the. Total group, have now reached a combined capacity of 1 megawatt installed (MW) and produced more than 1 gigawatt hour (GWh) of clean electricity.

"Committed in a worldwide solarisation program, Total has the ambition to equip 5,000 of its service stations worldwide with solar panels by 2021, with the goal of offering affordable, reliable and clean energy solutions for all."
