Janet Jackson was the epitome of elegance when she graced the red carpet and the stage at the Black Girls Rock on Sunday night.

The 52-year-old pop icon was honoured with the Rock Star Award at the annual ceremony as a ‘phenomenal woman in music’ and made sure she raised the style stacks at the glitzy event held in Newark, New Jersey.
Fearless as always with her fashion choices, she donned a stunning haute couture Christian Siriano gown. The midnight blue dress featured a dramatic train, lace detailing and black floral pattern throughout.
Janet added some edge to the look with a spiked choker on her neck and trademark raven tresses styled in a tall standing braid.
It was announced back in May that the What Have You Done For Me Lately songstress would be receiving the Rock Star award which ‘celebrates fierce, fearless ‘sheroes’ in music who have successfully pushed the envelope and carved a niche where other artists not only take note, but dutifully follow her lead.’
Other award honorees include R&B singer Mary J. Blige, who received the Star Power Award and supermodel Naomi Campbell, who took home the Black Girls Magic Award.
Singer Ciara, who was given the privilege of presenting Janet’s award at the show hosted by Queen Latifah, praised her as a ‘huge influence’.
