For Nneka, founder of NMA garment Factory, the idea is about promoting Made-in-Nigeria clothes, with a mission to providing employment to 1,000 people in Africa by 2020. She stated this on her handle “My goods are made locally and we have a capacity of 2,000 dresses every day. If we expand our capacity, we can actually employ more people and produce more.” Our target is to make Made-in-Nigeria clothing really affordable. This, she says has become necessary as most Nigerian designers clothing are quite expensive. ‘I noticed that when you go to buy Nigerian clothing, it is usually out of reach. That way, you can’t make it sustainable.”
With more than four outfits across the country and Ghana, Nneka hopes to take the business beyond Africa.
“I believe I am going to be in the Dubai mall. If I am there, I will make my dresses affordable, because, if you are taking African culture to western world, let it be affordable. If it is affordable, then we can tell our story better.”
